I agree; this is the ideal I personally believe works.

Because bias is real, no matter how much we may strive for objectivity. And like qualitative researchers, I think honesty is all about being clear about your biases.
Of course, I understand that some news organizations require their employees to appear in public places to be unbiased, so as to not hurt the organizations’ credibility. But, it is also my belief that such a policy places a brick wall between the reader and the journalist, segregating the world into us and them.
And if I were ever so lucky as to work in such an organization, I’d follow it’s rules. But likely question it, in my mind.
